SafeEVAC™ started with a discussion on how to protect our nation’s children from school violence. Our mission is to honor life and equip people in emergency evacuations.
SafeEVAC™ started with a discussion on how to protect our nation’s children from school violence. Our mission is to honor life and equip people in emergency evacuations.
As inventors, Michael Day and Michael Sandefur researched solutions and quickly realized there was no technology for intelligent evacuation of schools and other buildings. The innovators then set about creating a system for the evacuation of buildings, focusing on evacuation signage and intelligent evacuation planning software.
To date, SafeEVAC™ has filed over 30 patent-pending applications on this transformative security technology. Mike Sandefur, Mike Day & Eric Schue |
GET THE REAL-TIME INTEL YOU NEED
Mere seconds can make all the difference in life-or-death situations. SafeEVAC's threat identification and evacuation plan software enables safe and rapid evacuation of a facility.
SafeEVAC™ is a Threat Identification and Intelligent Evacuation Technology. The technology consists of threat identification and first responder notification, patent-pending signage and intelligent evacuation software, which provides instant notification to occupants within the threat area to shelter-in-place and instantly directs those who can safely evacuate to a safe exit. With a system alert, those within the threat area that can shelter in place have done so, and those who can safely evacuate have substantially moved away from the threat.
EMERGENCY & EVACUATION PLAN SIGNAGE REIMAGINED
The innovators designed patent-pending modifications to the traditional Exit sign, thus creating a Smart Exit sign and evacuation signage. From there, the innovators added a camera, speaker, microphone, threat and active shooter detection sensors, and strobe lights to the Exit sign.
Intelligent evacuation technology was developed next. Using the Exit lighting, arrows, strobe lights, and speaker, the system can provide simple and precise information instantly on the nature of the threat, appropriate actions, and where to safely exit. The emergency management system can detect a threat in a variety of manners.

Victoria’s Voice was born from the tragic loss of David and Jackie Siegel’s daughter Victoria to a drug overdose in 2015. Since then, David and Jackie have committed to turning the tragedy of Victoria’s death into a national platform for drug awareness and prevention and saving lives from overdose.
The Siegels effectively advocated for the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA) signed into law on July 22, 2016. This was the first major federal addiction legislation in 40 years and the most comprehensive effort yet to address the opioid epidemic. Its passing laid the groundwork for a coordinated national response.
Since David and Jackie founded Victoria’s Voice in 2019, more than 800,000 parents, educators and children have been positively impacted by the foundation’s educational programming.
